The centre of Europe, breathtaking and diverse nature, hospitable people – these are the pillars of the country we call home. However, all its beauty and advantages can only be seen and felt if its inhabitants feel safe there. This is precisely the direction in which Telegrafia has managed to advance in Slovakia. Complete modernization of the national warning system
Let’s start with a summary. As a leading manufacturer of electronic sirens, Telegrafia, in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic, expanded and modernized the network of civil protection sirens used to alert the population in case of an emergency. A total of 1,088 new fourth-generation electronic sirens with remote control were installed in 720 towns and villages in Slovakia. This increased the coverage of warnings from 58% to 85% of the population in permanently populated areas. The entire modernization was financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Programme “Quality of the Environment” for the programming period 2014-2020. Slovakia could hear the sound and power of the new sirens during their first loud test on December 8, 2023.

The project “Establishment of an Early Warning System” was implemented by the Crisis Management Department of the Ministry of the Interior from 2018 to 2023, followed by the project “Establishment basic image editing services of Early Warning Systems 2″, the implementation period of which lasted from 2022 to 2023.
New electronic sirens were added to the existing network, replacing the outdated electric vehicle sirens. The locations for their installation were selected in cooperation with district authorities, taking into account the population size and the increasing number of climate-related emergencies, and based on an analysis of the terrain. These were mainly regional and district cities and municipalities with a population of over 1,000 residents. The previously installed electronic sirens in regional cities were replaced with more modern ones.
Strength lies in possibilities
The evolution of electronic sirens is not only marked by their characteristics, but also by the possibilities they offer.
